Reflections regarding Two Years of Retirement
Today, May 31, 2026, is the second anniversary of my retirement. Retirement was forced on me when the conditions at the university which employed me became too toxic to endure any longer, but escaping that place and the dimwitted narcissists who ran it then and run it now enabled me to regain a life worth living.
It took awhile, but now I'm able to make it through most days without thinking once about that fucked up university. I was either a student or a professor of mathematics for 47 years, and that is enough of that. I am now free to pursue without restrictions whatever mathematics and science that I feel like pursuing. It has been wonderful to be able to renew studying favorite topics such as the philosophy and foundations of mathematics.
Creating posts for this blog is one of my primary retirement activities. New ideas for posts frequently arise in my mind. I have probably dozens of partially completed posts either written in a text file or on paper. This blog is my mind repository.
Below is an image showing what I look like now. The slight bend of my nose was caused by my mother when she punched me in the face when I was in 2nd grade. My nose bled like crazy which led to more punishment.
